Safety Manager - Malta 

Introduction

Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Accountable Manager, the Safety Manager plays a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing safety standards across the organization. This position will oversee all aspects of the Safety Management System (SMS) and work to ensure compliance with local aviation authorities. The role also involves chairing safety review boards when needed and collaborating with various departments to ensure a unified approach to safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain an effective Safety Management System (SMS) on behalf of the Accountable Manager.
  • Oversee the Emergency Response Plan and Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) program.
  • Provide guidance on safety responsibilities and accountability across departments.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between departments to uphold safety standards.
  • Manage safety databases and conduct thorough safety analyses, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support safety review boards (SRB) and audit the safety action group (SAG) processes.
  • Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis, and safety training programs.
  • Ensure timely implementation of risk mitigation measures, promoting a safety-first culture throughout the organization.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities regarding safety and security matters.
  • Stay informed on current aviation safety legislation and global trends.
  • Maintain the same high priority for aviation safety as any other business or operational process within the organization.
Candidate Requirements
Education:
  • Technical education required.
  • Auditing techniques training is preferred.
  
Experience and Knowledge:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aviation safety management.
  • Strong understanding of international and European safety regulations, as well as ICAO standards.
  • Experience in safety investigations and human factors in aviation.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficient in compliance monitoring and risk management systems.
  • Experience managing safety and compliance monitoring systems within aviation organizations.
  • Ability to promote a positive safety culture and provide strong leadership.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Training will be provided to the successful candidate.
