Advancing Aviation Cybersecurity on a Global Scale

Advancing Aviation Cybersecurity on a Global Scale

The U.S. Aviation Cybersecurity Initiative (ACI) is working to strengthen international cybersecurity in aviation through specialised training programmes.

A recent session in Warsaw trained professionals from 12 countries, including Ukraine and Poland, on wireless security, industrial control system protection, and cyber risk mitigation.

The hands-on training at Warsaw Chopin Airport allowed participants to analyse real-world vulnerabilities and develop stronger cyber defences.

This training has profoundly strengthened the abilities of the participants within the global cybersecurity framework and underscored our unwavering commitment to supporting our strategic partners in safeguarding their essential infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.

Noted Serra Pehlivan, DHS Homeland Security Advisor for Southeast Europe.

What This Means for Candidates

As cybersecurity threats evolve, aviation employers are seeking specialists with expertise in cyber risk management, industrial control systems, and network security. Professionals with these skills will be in high demand as the industry prioritises resilience against cyber threats.

What are the top 3 market trends that impact Aviation recruitment in 2025?

  1. Candidates are driving change:

They are reshaping the job market by seeking more flexible working arrangements, improved work-life balance, and comprehensive benefits.

  2. Growing demand for digital and technology proficiency: Aviation is evolving rapidly, with AI, automation, and data-driven decision-making becoming industry norms. Employers now expect candidates to be digitally literate, and companies investing in upskilling their teams will gain a competitive advantage.

  3. Businesses are investing in internal talent development: More businesses are focusing on hiring and training junior-level employees instead of relying solely on external hires. This builds loyalty, engagement, and long-term growth within the company.

What are the top 3 retention strategies companies should prioritise to keep their top talent engaged and motivated?

  1. Clear career development and progression paths:

Employees need to see real opportunities for growth, whether through structured training, mentorship, or leadership pathways.

  2. Invest in culture and recognise success: A strong company culture isn’t just a perk—it’s a key factor in retention. Recognising and rewarding both big and small successes keeps employees motivated and loyal.

  3. Stand out with competitive benefits:

Although salary is important, companies offering benefits like gym memberships, family health insurance, and strong pension plans stand out in the job market and attract top professionals.

"I used to work on the QE2, which provided me with the incredible opportunity to travel the world and visit 58 countries. Some of my best memories include unforgettable crew bar parties, making lifelong friends, and compiling a list of countries I am eager to revisit. However, my favourite country that I travelled back to was Thailand, where I did a Muay Thai training course."
